A place to practise.

Wusheng Monastery supports both Chan meditation and intensive devotional practice on Taiwan's northeast coast. Published rules make residence and shared discipline central, while the programmes differ considerably in prerequisites. Historical overseas groups show international participation is possible, but a visitor should establish the language and admission route for a particular retreat rather than rely on that history.

Time & commitment

Historical 2026 seven-day stages in April–May; August 24–30 introductory Chan retreat. Future session dates need checking.

Joining from overseas

Past overseas participation. Eligibility differs sharply: Great Compassion classes require refuge and specified prior recitation/practice; do not apply those conditions automatically to introductory Chan.

Ask about English. Confirm instruction, translation and orientation for your specific programme.
